Avanos Hair Museum

The Hair Museum, which has a very interesting story, is located in Avanos. It is an unrequited love story that started it all. In 1979, a French tourist woman came to the workshop of the pottery master Galip Körükçü from Avanos. After a while, an emotional bond develops between them, but the French tourist has to return to his country after 3 months. The French tourist woman wants to leave a memory to the potter, and it becomes a lock of hair. The foundations of the museum were laid here. The pottery hangs this hair on the wall of his workshop, and after that this wall is overflowing with the hair of women who heard and were impressed by the story. In the hope of finding their own hair when they come back, the women wrote down some personal information and attached it to their hair. In order to protect personal information, it is forbidden to take photos in the museum. With this interesting story, he managed to enter the Guinness Book of Records in 1998. Since it is a private museum, the museum card cannot be used here, but it is possible to visit the museum for very small amounts.
